In 1993 Entergy Operations decided ANO Unit 2 steam generators required replacement due to tube degradation. The Steam Generator Replacement Project (SGRP) team was formed to prepare for a major construction effort. Industry SGR projects were analyzed, and it was determined that from a radiological protection aspect early Radiation Protection (RP) personnel involvement was required. The SGRP RP project lead and other RP personnel made numerous visits to other SGRP’s between 1995 and the spring of 2000. These visits were used to gather information to help plan for ANO’s SGRP. The ability to witness all aspects of an SGRP, from planning phases before an outage starts to the implementation of these plans during a SGRP, provided tremendous benefit to the RP success of 2R14 outage. Numerous industry lessons learned from these visits were factored into the RP plans for ANO.
